Caulry GAA PRO Notes - 8th July 2013

Caulry Gathering
Preparations are well underway for the Caulry Gathering week-end which takes place on Friday/Saturday July 19th & 20th next. This event is primarily to honour all past players both in Football and Camogie and former members of Scor. A full program of events is lined up to include Mass on Friday evening at 8pm for all deceased members and their families, followed by refreshments in the Hall and a traditional session in Egans Pub. On Saturday a golf competition takes place in Mount Temple Golf Club at 11.30am. The Egan Cup Final follows at 7pm in the Park beween Caulry and Tang. Evening celebrations to be held in Egans Pub will include prize giving and the Egan Cup presentation. Music will be provided by the Willie Kavanagh Band and will include local guest artists and former members of Scor. So come along and join in the celebrations as everyone is welcome.

Egan Cup Semi-Final
Tang overcame Maryland by two points (1-16 to 1-14) in a free-flowing and entertaining game of football in the semi-final of the Egan Cup played in the Park last Friday evening. Tang and Caulry will now meet in the final which is scheduled for Saturday, July 20th in the Park at 7pm and is part of the Caulry Gathering celebrations taking place over that week-end.
Under-12 Ladies Football
The rising stars of Caulry ladies shone brightly on Thursday evening 27th June in Shandonagh. Shandonagh`s brave back line were put under pressure straight away by Caulry`s determined forwards Ava Mc Hugh, Lucy Evans, Rachel O`Rourke and Katie Killane. Shandonagh picked up the pace in the second half however Caulry`s back line which included Erin A. Ò Loughlin, Jasmine Maloney and Zara Mularney were a real force to be reckoned with. A great start to phase 2 of the U12 league.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations
Congratulations to Fr. Pat Kiernan on his recent Silver Jubilee Celebrations. 
25 years as a priest, Fr. Pat joined Mount Temple in late 2000, and since then he has been an integral part of the community, and very popular in the Mount Temple, Baylin and the surrounding areas.
He has also been a keen supporter of Caulry GAA, and indeed played for the club for his first few years in Mount Temple. His first game was against Ballymore in a League game on 31st March 2001, which ended in a draw, with Fr.Pat playing at centre-half forward.

Congratulations to Robbie Hickey and Sean Doyle, members of the Westmeath Minor Football squad who qualified for the Leinster Minor Football Final next week-end following a two-point victory over Meath in the semi-final in Navan on Saturday last. Best wishes to Westmeath who take on Kildare in the final this coming Sunday in Croke Park.
Intermediate Championship
Caulry's next game in this year's Intermediate Football Championship has now been fixed as part of a double header in Ballymore on Sunday July 28th when we take on Rosemount with a 5pm throw-in. 
The Caulry club wishes to extend it's deepest sympathies to the Nugent family Baylin & Mount Temple and the O'Connor family Mount Temple following their recent family bereavements.
Minor Football League/Championship : Caulry at home to Moate, Wednesday July 17th at 8pm

No winner of the Jackpot (€ 4,400) in the draw on July 1st.
