Sponsor Our Sod Fundraiser
Work is planned to commence next month on the development of a state of the art all-weather playing pitch and training area on the recently purchased 5 acres of land adjoining the current Caulry playing facilities. This project will be completed with the aid of a recently acquired Sports Council Grant coupled with sponsorship monies to be raised by the Caulry Club itself. To this end the club are launching a 'Sponsor Our Sod' fundraiser initiative, whereupon  present and former club members, players, supporters and friends of the club are invited to sponsor a sod on the new playing pitch for €50 and in return all sponsors will have their names permanently displayed and celebrated on a special plaque to be erected on the club grounds. All sponsors will also be entered into a special draw with excellent prizes to be won which will take place at a special club function to be held in Egans, Mount Temple on June 25th next. For more details and sponsorship cards please contact any Executive Committee Member or call Padraig at 086 4083946 or Irvine at 086 8578257. A committee member will be calling to all houses this week.

Division 1 ACFL
Caulry 0-11
Athlone 4-9
Caulry suffered their third consecutive defeat in this year’s Division 1 ACFL as they went down to a strong Athlone side on Tuesday evening last.
Caulry opened the scoring tally with a superb point from Robbie Hickey. Athlone got off the mark with a pointed-free on the 5th minute. The game went on a point-for-point basis, with Paddy Sleator and Alan Fitzpatrick on target for the homeside. A quick brace of goals for Athlone left six points the margin on the quarter-hour mark. Athlone pushed on and began to build up a commanding lead. Some good defending from Declan Donohoe allowed Fitzpatrick to add to the scoring tally. Alan Daly’s point narrowed the deficit. Another pointed-free for Athlone kept their noses in front. Peter Smyth kicked the next two scores of the game and a late point for Athlone left Caulry trailing 3-7 to 0-7 at the interval.
Smyth and Hickey pointed to narrow the margins early in the second half. However, the opposition proved to be the hungrier side and rallied on, scoring an unanswered 1-2. Our lads tried hard and late points from Stephen Woods and Peter Smyth left the scoreboard reading 4-9 to 0-11 at the fulltime whistle.
Team & Scorers: Michael Carroll, Conor Dolan, Declan Donohoe, Michael McMahon, Eoin Fox, Kevin Maguire, Damien Dolan, John Maguire, Sean Doyle, Alan Daly (0-1), Alan Fitzpatrick (0-2), Robbie Hickey (0-2), Eoin Donohoe, Paddy Sleator (0-1), Peter Smyth (0-4, 3f)
