Feis Cup Semi-Final
Caulry 1-9
St. Lomans 4-16
Caulry bowed out of the Feis Cup on Thursday last as they played host to a strong St. Lomans side.
The opposition raced out of the tracks with a well-taken goal inside the opening 5 minutes. A point from Harry Hughes got our lads off the mark. St. Lomans kicked the next two scores of the game to keep their noses in front. The opposition’s goalie brought off a great save as Robbie Hickey tapped over the resulting ‘45’. However, St. Lomans began to dominate proceedings, scoring an unanswered 1-4 in quick succession. Some good play from Eoin Fox found Hughes who rattled the back of the Mullingar men’s net on the 19th minute. The teams traded scores late in the half, with Hickey on target for the homeside, to leave our lads trailing 1-3 to 2-8 at the interval.
On the resumption, St. Lomans stretched their lead with an unanswered 1-1. Robbie Hickey kicked the next three scores of the game to narrow the deficit. The opposition pointed on the 10th minute. Some good work from Hughes enabled Damien Dolan to point. Another missed goal opportunity for our lads meant St. Lomans were able to race up the field and kick a superb point. A point from Sean Clinton drew one back on the 17th minute. The teams traded scores as Hickey tapped over another fine free for Caulry. However, the opposition proved to be the hungrier side on the night and rallied on to score an unanswered 1-4 late in the half to run out worthy winners on a scoreline of 4-16 to 1-9.
