Caulry GAA PRO Notes 12th Oct 2014

posted 13 Oct 2014, 05:25 by Caulry Admin
Leinster  Intermediate Championship - This Sunday versus Sean O Mahony’s.
After their great achievement in finally annexing the county title, the Intermediate squad now turn their attention to the Leinster championship campaign, when the Louth county champions, Sean O Mahony’s  will be visitors to our local park on Sunday next, 3pm. Hopefully our lads will at top performance as they represent club and county in pursuit of more honours. Incidentally, the Louth men had a similar path to success as our lads. Having not won the Louth crown since 1998, they needed two semi-final replays before winning by a three point margin as Caulry did in the final. So a close encounter could well be in store again this Sunday, which would no doubt not surprise supporters of either side. With the expected large crowd, all patrons are asked to come early and co-operate with the stewards on duty. All club members willing to help out, would be appreciated on the day.

Under 14 Shield Final
The Leinster championship clash will be preceded by the Under 14 Shield Final, between Caulry and St Loman’s Mullingar at 12.45pm. This should provide good warm up for supporters who come early and will also help them secure the prime viewing vantage positions for the adult fixture. So please come early.

Under 16 Championship Division 3 Final
Caulry 3-4
Coralstown- Kinnegad 5-13
At a sunny Cusack Park Mullingar on Saturday last an early scoring blitz from Coralstown-Kinnegad dealt a hammer blow to Caulry’s hopes of victory, from which they never recovered. Despite defeat, Neil and Sean Clinton, Charlie Parker, Conor McCormack, Jack Bradbury, Colin Murphy put in great effort and performance which deserved better. Thanks also to the management team of Kevin Connaughton and Tommy Woods for their tireless work with the squad. (see report elsewhere in this newpaper)

Under 14 Championship Division 1 Shield Semi-Final
Caulry 5-11
Coralstown-Kinnegad 5-7
Caulry made the long journey to Kinnegad on Thursday evening last to take on the home team in the Shield semi-final. Played under lights on a damp and cold evening, both teams served up a fine game of flowing football, which left the half time score 1-8 to 1-4 in our favour. The early exchanges on the resumption were similar, however  a ‘goal of the season’ effort by Sean Fox gave his team the impetuous to build up a good scoreline, before an injury delay broke the momentum and allowed Coralstown-Kinnegad make a late rally to set up a nervy finish. In a good all round team performance, Dylan Lowry, Sean Fox, Liam Doyle and Colin Murphy stood out. We now play St Loman’s in the final.

Team: James Clavin, Eugene Costello, Jack Sheehan, Glen Carolan, Dylan Lowry, Darren Browne, Daniel Buckley, Neil Clinton, Sean Fox (1-1), Liam Doyle (1-2), Shane Cleary (0-2), Adam Mullins, Adam Donoghue (0-3), Colin Murphy (3-3), Ciaran Geoghegan, Thomas Dunning, Luke Hamilton, Zach Nolan, Eoin Shortall.
