U14 League
Caulry 3-3
Cill Oige 8-15
Our U14 boys made the journey to Rosemount on Thursday evening last for their latest league game against Cill Oige.
The Cill Oige boys burst out of the tracks with a shot on goal on the 1st minute which was brilliantly blocked down by Ian Malone. The opposition built up an early lead with 1-2 inside the opening 5 minutes. Some good combined teamwork from Tadgh Baker and Oisin Shortall set Tiarnan O’Donovan up for a fine goal two minutes later. Ian Malone brought off another great save as our boys were unlucky to miss a goal of their own at the other end of the field. Michael McDonald defended well as a superb pass from Aindriu Lynam enabled O’Donovan to get his second goal of the evening. Our lads tried hard in defence but Cill Oige rattled off a quick 2-5 to stretch the margins between the sides to 3-7 to 2-0 at the halftime whistle.
Our boys started the second half great with a well-taken goal from Lynam after a good pass from Conor Hynes. However, the opposition responded well as they took charge of proceedings with an unanswered 3-3. Points from Alan Lynam and Paul Hogan drew two back by the end of the third quarter. Another fine point from Lynam chipped away at the deficit. Ultimately, our boys chased the deficit throughout as further scores for the opposition meant they ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 8-15 to 3-3.
