Strictly Fun Dancing
They came from far and wide as the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone was packed to capacity on Sunday night last for Caulry’s  ‘Strictly Fun Dancing’ event. While they might even have  ‘brought the house down’ such was the crowd and electric atmosphere that prevailed, the place was certainly rocking as each couple gave it their all on the dance floor. The words ‘courage’ ‘gusto’, ‘elegance’, and even ‘flamboyance’ come to mind and if none of the above apply, then certainly they were all very entertaining. However one thing is for sure, if the footballers can play like the dancers performed, there will be no stopping them.

The club is very grateful to all 16 couples who put on such a fantastic show to help raise money for a second pitch and training facility. For most of the performing dancers who had not ever even danced before, this was a great tribute to their ability, community spirit and commitment to the cause to put themselves up on stage before such a large audience and team of judges.  It was also a great feat for choreographer and dance teacher, Lorraine Wynne and her assistants to bring out the best hidden talent in every couple.

Dancers - The dancers who performed were as follows:
Claire Fitzpatrick & Donie Malone,
Elaine Denby Allen & Tommy Fagan,
Terri-Anne Stuart-Trainor & Vincent Geoghegan,
Ger O Kelly Lynch & Mary Martin,
Paddy McMemamin & Michelle Francis,
Mags Allen Lynch & Matt Conlon,
Matt Hamilton & Charlene McCormack,
Badia Zaidi & Joan Parker,
Jacqueline Scully & John Flemming,
Sandra Gaynor & Allan Fox,
Karen Dunning & Frankie Kenna,
Eoghan Grennan & Aishling Claffey,
Declan Donoghue & Sinead Allen Ledwith,
Niamh Hanevy & Jason Walker,
Clare O Shaughnessey Carroll & Vincent Lowry,
Dympna Pettit & Pat McCormack.
For the record Elaine and Tommy were adjudged winners on a night, where everyone was a winner, most especially the Caulry club.

Thanks - In addition to our dancers, the club is very grateful to our sub-committee which was set for this event and left no stone unturned in their efforts to make it such a fantastic success, namely Michelle Baker, Jackie Allen, Mary Quigley, Brian Carolan, Kevin Connaughton, Richie Higgins, John Lawless. The wardrobe ladies Shelia Allen and Michelle, Make-up, sound and lighting, Raddisson Hotel management and the many people in the background who helped out. Sincere thanks once again to all the people who purchased tickets and a very special thank you to all of the many sponsors. Special thanks to master of ceremonies Tom Curtin, who used all his vast repertoire of experience to make all the contestants  feel at ease. Thanks also to the judging panel  made up of Lorraine Wynne, Linda Murray, Ollie Baker and Joe McCaul.

League Division 1
Caulry welcome one of the big guns to our local pitch on Sunday next when Mullingar Shamrocks visit for what will be our first league game in Division 1 at 2pm.
