U13 Cross Border Tournament
Caulry 13-5
Tubberclair 2-4
Caulry travelled to Tubberclair on Saturday afternoon last for their latest outing in the U13 Cross Border Tournament and ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 13-5 to 2-4.
Tubberclair were first to score with a fine point from play, which was shortly followed by a goal from Roan Sweeney. Great defending from Ciaran Gaynor enabled Senan Baker to rattle the back of the Tubberclair net on the 4th minute. Conor Paul brought off a great save in goals. However, Tubberclair took advantage of the rebound and narrowed to deficit to just two points. A superb point from Luke Buckley and a second goal for Senan Baker stretched Caulry’s lead. The visitors then went on a quick scoring blitz, which yielded and unanswered 6-3, to lead 9-4 to 1-1 at the break.
Tubberclair raced out of the tracks early in the second half and scored 1-1 to narrow the deficit. However, great defending from Colm Shortall allowed Luke Buckley to add to the scoring tally. Caulry then rattled the back of the Tubberclair net which goals from Alan Malynn and Rory Mullins. Tubberclair added two late scores and a goal from James Buckley left the scoreboard reading 13-5 to 2-4 at the final whistle. Overall, the team played very well, with patches of nice combined teamwork throughout.
