Minor Board AGM
The Caulry Minor Board AGM was held in Mount Temple Community Centre on Friday night last before a good sized attendance. Outgoing Minor Chairman, Brian Carolan who did not seek re-election thanked everyone for coming and also expressed sincere thanks to all the mentors and parents for their considerable time and effort during the past year. He hoped for continued co-operation going forward and stated that the club had serious potential with the large number number of quality players within their ranks. However, major work in coaching and development of our young players needs to be maintained if this is to be realised.
Minor secretary, Kevin Connaughton who also bowed out after great service, gave a detailed report on all underage fixtures in the past year and thank everyone who supported the club in any way. Coaching and games development officer, TJ Dunning outlined what was expected of each mentor and that coach education was the way forward, together with co-operation with the schools and communication with the parents and players.
Special thanks to both Mount Temple and Baylin National School teachers, and Moate and Athlone Community Colleges, and Marist College Athlone for their great efforts in promoting Gaelic games for our players. Hugh Clavin was elected as a new officer of the Minor committee, when he replaced John Lawless as the outgoing underage registrar.  John, Brian and Kevin were warmly praised for their outstanding work over recent years in their various roles. Intermediate Cup
Caulry played host to Milltownpass in the first game of this year’s  Intermediate Cup competition which will be run on a round robin basis. On a bright winters morning it was the visitors who were much sharper and fitter throughout. A two goal salvo midway through the first half gave them a cushion which they would not relinquish. While it was very much an experiential Caulry side, County minor panelist, Eoin Fox showed he will be a useful addition in the coming year with a typical all round performance. In addition only the experienced Gary Flanagan and Peter Smith were the only others to carry the fight to the men in black and white. A considerable all round improvement will be required if the Intermediate Cup won only last November is not to have a very short residence in Caulry. Still It’s only the first match of the year.
Final Score: Milltownpass 3-12 Caulry 2-7
Team & Scorers: Joe McMahon, Keith McMememiam, Michael McMahon, Eoin Donoghue, Liam Muldoon, Aidan Murphy, James Pettit, John Maguire, Gary Flanagan, Eoin Fox (0-2), Peter Smith (1-4), Alan Daly, Michael Donohoe, Declan Donoghue (1-0), Eoin Grennan.
Subs: Stephen Woods for John Maguire (inj), Killian Healy for Daly (inj), Alan Fitzpatrick for Muldoon, Eddie Daly (0-1) for Woods (black card).
