Caulry GAA PRO Notes 1st June 2014 -

posted 5 Jun 2014, 12:12 by Caulry Admin
A.C.F.L. Division 1 -
Caulry 0-8
Garrycastle 2-13
Caulry travelled to Garrycastle on Tuesday week last for the a  Division 1 League fixture and went down very tamely to the home side. Caulry were not helped by losing county star Kevin Maguire to a black card very early in the game. Other incidents far worse were given yellow and this GAA controversy issue is going to continue to cause grief if consistency is not applied. However, Caulry never showed  the desire, aggression and will to win in order to take what would have been a major ‘scalp’. Garrycastle never had to get out of ‘low gear’ as they used all their experience and teamwork to  win with ease.
On the bright side however, it was good to see David Brookes make a welcome return from a long injury lay off.
Best for Caulry were Damian Dolan, Declan Donoghue, Sean Doyle and Peter Smyth.
Caulry team: Joe McMahon, Brian Mullarney, Damian Dolan, James Pettit, Eoin Fox, Kevin Maguire, Declan Donoghue, Alan Fitzpatrick (0-1), Gary Flanagan (0-1), Ernie Buckley, Sean Doyle, Eoghan Grennan, Ben Kenny, Peter Smyth (0-5), Robbie Hickey.
Subs: Michael McMahon for K Maguire (b.c.), John Maguire for Kenny, David Brookes (0-1) for Hickey, Harry Hughes for Buckley, Patrick Sleator for Fox

Caulry 2-7
Tang 0-3
Caulry played their second Division 1 League match of the week on Saturday last at a sunny Tang venue. While the football fare was far from sunny, our lads did enough to garner two valuable league points for their third league victory in this division. The match was highlighted by a brilliant goal from Damian Dolan. Apart from Damian, Kevin Maguire, Brain Mullarney, Alan Fitzpatrick, Eoghan Grennan and David Brookes, were others who put in a good shift.
As this was our last competitive game before the championship on Saturday against Mullingar Shamrocks second team, it was important to get back to winning ways.
Well done to the lads and hopefully we are coming back to form for the championship season.

Millmore Gaels 2-13
Caulry went to Ballymore to take on the local amalgamation of Ballymore and Milltown, Millmore Gaels on Thursday evening last. This was an excellent game of football with top range point scoring by both sides. Leading 2-5 to 1-3 at the break, Caulry ran their bench to good effect in the second half to come away with the points.
Caulry: James Clavin, Jack Sheehan, Eugene Costello, Darren Browne, Zach Nolan, Sean Fox (0-1), Dylan Lowry, Colin Murphy (0-2), Neil Clinton, Shane Cleary (1-2), Glen Carolan, Adam Donoghue (0-4), Ciaran Geoghegan, Liam Doyle (1-4), Thomas Dunning, Darcy Lawless (2-1), Rian Rasmussen, Luke Hamilton, Daniel Buckley, Charlie Malone, Jack Malone.

County Underage
Well done to James Clavin, Daniel Buckley, Adam Donoghue and Thomas Dunning who made successful debuts for the Westmeath Under 13 team against Wicklow at Blessington on Saturday last. In doing so they made another bit of history by been members of the youngest ever age group to represent their county in a very impressive display.
