Sponsor Our Sod Fundraiser
The official turning of the sod of our new pitch took place on Thursday evening last. Tom Fitzgerald had the honour of turning the first sod on behalf of the club trustees Tom Fitzgerald, Tom Seery and Richie Allen. Many thanks to our main sponsors were present on the evening.
Work is planned to continue on the development of a state of the art all-weather playing pitch and training area on the recently purchased 5 acres of land adjoining the current Caulry playing facilities. This project will be completed with the aid of a recently acquired Sports Council Grant coupled with sponsorship monies to be raised by the Caulry Club itself. To this end the club are launching a 'Sponsor Our Sod' fundraiser initiative, whereupon present and former club members, players, supporters and friends of the club are invited to sponsor a sod on the new playing pitch for €50 and in return all sponsors will have their names permanently displayed and celebrated on a special plaque to be erected on the club grounds. All sponsors will also be entered into a special draw with excellent prizes to be won which will take place at a special club function to be held in Egans, Mount Temple on June 25th next. For more details and sponsorship cards please contact any Executive Committee Member or call Padraig at 086 4083946 or Irvine at 086 8578257.

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 1-7
St Malachys 1-12
Caulry made the journey to Castletown/Geoghegan on Tuesday evening last for their latest Division 4 ACFL fixture.
Both sides were slow to settle and were guilty of early wides. A pointed-free from Peter Smyth got our lads off the mark on the 5th minute. Some good defending from Loughlin Casey and Conor Dolan allowed Smyth to point again. However, St Malachys soon found their feet and rattled the back of the Caulry net on the 11th minute. The opposition kicked the next two scores of the game. A missed goal opportunity meant Smyth tapped the rebound over the bar. Gavin Byrne hit the back of the opposition’s net after some good combined teamwork from Smyth and Stephen Brookes to levelled proceedings just before the interval.
St Malachys were first off the mark in the second half scoring an unanswered 0-3 in quick succession. Jack O’Kelly Lynch added to the scoring tally on the 7th minute. However, the opposition began to dominate proceedings, kicking some fine scores. Late points from Alan Daly and Eric Fallon narrowed the deficit as St Malachys ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-7.

Tyrellspass 1-15
Caulry suffered another defeat in this year’s Division 1 ACFL as they went down to a strong Tyrellspass side on Saturday evening last.
Tyrellspass were first to get off the mark with a superb point early in the half. Pater Smyth rattled the back of the opposition’s net on the 4th minute to put our lads in front. A superb pass from Gavin Byrne found Robbie Hickey who pointed to stretch our lead. However, Tyrellspass worked hard, scoring an unanswered 0-3 to level the game. Some good play from Conor Dolan resulted in Smyth tapping over a pointed-free. The teams traded scores with Mark Fitzpatrick on target. Damien Dolan defended well as Hickey sent the ball to the back of Tyrellspass net. Two points for the opposition late in the half meant Caulry lead 2-3 to 0-8 at the interval.
Tyrellspass kicked the first two scores of the second half. Our defence held strong as Stephen Connolly and Hickey added to the scoring tally. However, the opposition began to dominate proceedings and scored 1-5 in quick succession. Late points from Damien Dolan and Harry Hughes left five points between the sides at the final whistle on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-15.
