Caulry GAA PRO Notes 20th Oct 2014

posted 24 Oct 2014, 00:28 by Caulry Admin
AIB Leinster  Intermediate Championship
Caulry bowed out of the AIB Leinster Intermediate Championship at the first hurdle on Sunday last. Visitors, Louth champions Sean O Mahonys proved the hungrier team and ultimately, this was to prove the main difference in the end. (see report elsewhere).

While the result was disappointing, the primary goal of attaining Senior status was obtained two weeks previous. After a few long hard years in pursuit of this, the players deserve time out for a well earned rest to recharge the batteries, and come back with renewed vigour and enthusiasm which will be required in order to make an impression in both Division 1 League and Senior championship in 2015.

Our thanks to all the players and management for their efforts and we look forward to continued success in the years ahead. Special thanks also to all who helped prepare the park for last Sunday’s match and stewarding on the day. To the catering ladies once again. Finally well done to Jack Allen on his rousing rendition of Amhrain na bhFiann prior to the start of the match.

Under 14 Shield Final
The Under 14 Shield Final which was to initially precede last Sunday’s Leinster Intermediate clash was postponed due to a Leinster Council decision. This match has been refixed for Saturday next at 2pm between Caulry and St Loman’s Mullingar. Please come and support our boys. It will be followed by Athlone and Shannon Gaels (Maryland-Tang) in the Under 14 championship semi-final.

Under 12 Football
Caulry 8-6

The Under 12 footballers had a good win in the Jim McHugh Memorial Garrycastle tournament Shield semi-final on Wednesday evening last.  Played under lights in Garrycastle in a very wet conditions our lads were on top throughout and displayed great teamwork to prove convincing winners. They now go forward to play the host club, Garrycastle in the tournament final at 7pm on Saturday evening next in Garrycastle. Again your support would be welcome for this fine young team.
