Caulry GAA PRO Notes 21th Oct Sept 2013 -

All County League Div 2 -
The Caulry Club would like to apologise to all our supporters who turned up in vain to see our last and crucial Div 2 League game of the season against the Downs in the Park last Sunday morning. A win would have given Caulry the league title and promotion, but the failure of the appointed referee or a replacement referee to turn up for the game at the scheduled time resulted in no match going ahead and also a wasted journey being made by our opponents the Downs.

Caulry U/10s
Congratulations to the Caulry U/10s who won the prestigious Castledaly Tournament Coughlan Cup Final last Sunday morning in Castledaly following a dramatic last minute winning point to defeat local rivals Moate in a very entertaining and exciting game. It has been six years since this competition was last won by Caulry and great credit is due to this bunch of Players and the Team Mentors for their heroic efforts. See match report elsewhere in this newspaper.

Caulry U/12s
Caulry Under 12 footballers annexed their second piece of silverware this year when winning the Garrycastle Jim McHugh Memorial Plate Final at a damp and windy  Garrycastle on Saturday evening last. The tournament gave the mentors the opportunity to give their large panel good game time and play almost two different teams in each half. Early goals and the superior physical strength of the Caulry boys meant that the result was never in doubt from start to finish against a game and young Castledaly side. For James, Glen, Daniel, Zack, Luke, Adam and Thomas, this was their last Under 12 match and they will now play their football  in the Under 14 grade next year, with the remaining players forming a strong Under 12 squad for next year.

Caulry Team in 1st half: James Clavin, (capt),Conor McKnight, Glen Carolan, Jamie Conlon (0-1), Daniel Buckley (0-1), Zach Nolan (0-1), James Carey (1-0), Luke Hamilton, Oisin Murphy (1-0), Roan Sweeney (0-!, Sean Malone (0-1), Adam Donoghue (1-2), Thomas Dunning (2-3)

Caulry  Team in 2nd half: James Clavin (capt), Ciaran Gaynor, Glen Carolan, Colm Shortall, Daniel Buckley, Lee-Roy Coughlan, Zach Nolan, Luke Hamilton, Rory Mullins, Roan Sweeney, Olan Healy (1-0), Adam Donoghue, Thomas Dunning

Absentees through illness: Luke Buckley and Padraig Murphy

After the match, winning captain James Clavin received the Jim McHugh Memorial Plate on behalf of his jubilant team mates.

Our thanks to the Garrycastle organising committee and in particular Terry Larkin and Mark Redmond for the invitation and a well run tournament in memory of a man who lined out with Caulry in the past.
