U13 Cross Border Semi Final
Caulry 6-6
St. Broughans 0-3
Caulry played host to St. Broughans of Offaly in their semi-final on Sunday afternoon last and ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 6-6 to 0-3.
The opposition were first off the mark with a pointed free in the opening minutes. Caulry’s first goal of the evening came on the 6th minute after some great combined teamwork from Roan Sweeney, Luke Buckley and James Buckley which allowed Shane Lawless to rattle the net. A great save from Conor Paul in goals and superb defending from Colm Shortall and Rory Mullins saw Jamie Conlon and Senan Baker point for the homeside. Shane Lawless hit the back of the opposition’s net for a second time to stretch Caulry’s lead to seven points. St. Broughans got their second point of the match on the 20th minute to narrow the deficit. However, further goals from Senan Baker and James Buckley left Caulry leading 4-2 to 0-2 at the halftime whistle.
On the resumption, our defence held strong with Tom Cloonon and Rory Casey having impressive displays.  James Buckley slotted the ball into the back of the opposition’s net on the 42nd minute, which was shortly followed by points from Senan Baker and Roan Sweeney. St. Broughans answered with a pointed-free. However, good defending from Ciaran Gaynor and Josh Jocher enabled Roan to get a goal on the 50th minute. Late pointed-frees from Alan Malynn ensured Caulry a place in the final.
