Under 16 Division 2 County Final

Caulry 1.04
Moate 0.10

Caulry played host to Moate in  the final of the Div 2 U-16 championship on Sunday last in the Park.

Michael Carroll settled Caulry with a pointed free early on but Moate responded in determined fashion with four unanswered points. A point by Alan Nugent kept Caulry in the hunt but Moate again went up the field and increased their lead to three points after a well taken score.

With halftime looming the direct approach worked for Caulry when a long ball was caught by Michael Carroll in front of the goal but he was fouled as he attempted to shoot. The resultant penalty was calmly put away by Daniel Ledwith leaving the scores level at half time.

In the second half Moate started the scoring with a pointed free before Michael Carroll equalised with a point. As in the first half Moate went on a scoring spree and this time opened up a three point lead. Caulry’s scorer in chief Carroll again scored from a pointed free to leave two points between the sides but as Caulry pushed up-field in search of a goal Moate finished the stronger and scored the final point of the game.

Given the conditions on the day a great hours entertainment was provided and this team has to be commended for their efforts having to field without some experienced players. The backs who had to deal with the difficult conditions on the day have to be complimented as they never gave up, however the day was not going to be Caulry’s and a stronger Moate side took the spoils.

Team: Conor Tumulty, Conor Dolan, Daniel Ledwith 1-0 (pen), Adrian Claffey, Tom Doyle, Eoin Fox, Alan Daly, Ian Malynn, Eoin Donohoe, Colyn Shortall, Killian Healy, Hugh Allen, Alan Nugent(0-1), Michael Carroll (0-3), Stephen Brookes.
Subs Used :  Robbie Hickey, Sean Egan, Patrick Sleator.

Caulry Quiz Night
Caulry are hosting a Quiz Night in Egan's Mount Temple this Friday night, October 28th at 9.30pm. A table of four costs €40 and some great prizes are on offer. This should be a good night's entertainment and we are asking as many members and supporters as possible to come and support this fund-raising activity for the club.

The club wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the Conlon, Hamilton, Healy and O'Meara families following their recent family bereavements.
