Caulry Under 14 Presentation

This year’s Caulry Under 14 Division 2 Championship winning team will be presented with their medals at a function in Mount Temple Community Centre on this Friday night starting at 8.30pm. In addition last year’s Division 1 Shield winning panel will also belatedly receive their medals. Refreshments will be available on the night and we encourage as many people as possible to come out and honour our latest batch of local heroes.

Under 10 Coughlan Shield Final

Hard luck to our Under 10 boys who lost out by the narrowest of margins, 2-4 to 1-6 against Tubberclare in the Castledaly Coughlan Shield Tournament final on Sunday week last. This group has progressed steadily in recent years under the stewardship of Niall Shortall and Tom Stuart Trainor and are going from strength to strength. This was the latest of three finals to contest this year, with another narrow defeat in the Ballinacargy Tournament final, while they had a great victory in the Caulry final, taking home the Larry Nugent Cup. Well done to all the squad and keep up the practise. Special thanks to Niall and Tom for their diligent work and also to all the parents for their cooperation and support once again.. A special thanks to Castledaly for hosting us, in what was another successful tournament.

Garrycastle Tournament Final

Caulry 1-3

Moate 1-10

Caulry made the short distance to Garrycastle where they took on Moate in the U12 Garrycastle Tournament Final on Saturday evening last.

Moate raced out of the tracks with a quick goal and point. A superb save from Conor Paul in goals enabled Alan Malynn to point for Caulry. Moate kept their noses in front with a fine point on the 11th minute. Good defending from Rory Casey and Alan Lynam and another great save from Conor Paul allowed Alan Malynn to get his second point of the evening. Further points from Moate left Caulry trailing by 1-4 to 0-2.

Two quick points on the resumption stretched Moate’s lead. Great team work from Sean Murphy and James Buckley resulted in Sean adding to the scoring tally. After great fielding from Senan Baker, the duo combined again as James Buckley rattled the back of the Moate net. Unfortunately, Caulry chased the deficit throughout and late points for Moate left seven points between the sides on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-3.

Well done to every one of the players, who should be very proud of their effort on the day. Many thanks to all who travelled, and a special thanks to Garrycastle for hosting us. Thanks to the management team of Jody Malynn and James Casey for their hard work throughout the year.

Team: Conor Paul, Rory Casey, Alan Lynam, Shane Lawless, Tom Cloonon, Ben Claffey, Senan Baker, Sean Murphy, Paul Hogan, James Buckley, Joey Berry, Josh Rhatigan, Alan Malynn
