Under 16 League Division 1

Caulry 3-4

Coralstown-Kinnegad 2-12

A depleted Caulry due to illness and injury made the long journey to Kinnegad on Wednesday evening. This second round match proved a disastrous start for Caulry as they not only trailed 2-9 to no score, but also lost Darren Browne to injury to add to their woes. However, the late arrival and introduction of Sean Fox, proved a tremendous boost and gradually we clawed our way back into the contest. A penalty goal and a point from play by Darcy Lawless got us up and running. As we began to dominate play we could have been even ahead by the interval, but for some wrong options in attack. Trailing 2-9 to 1-2 we were completely on top in almost every sector on the changeover. Another brilliantly executed penalty by Darcy Lawless and Find individual goal from Sean Woods were highlights of the second period, however, try as they might, our lads ran out of time. While this was a game we could have won, we left ourselves with too much to do after the early on slaught of the home side. However, one would still have to be thankful that players coming up to important junior cert exams, cut short their studies to travel in a rush and somewhat ill prepared at the start of the game proving the difference in the end. Best performers on the evening were Aaron Fallon, Sam Nolan, Colin Murphy, Sean Fox, Darcy Lawless and Liam Doyle.

Team & Scorers: Darren Browne, Aaron Fallon, Jack Sheehan, Eoin Shortall, Dylan Lowry, Sam Nolan, Sean Woods (1-0), Darcy Lawless (2-2), Colin Murphy (0-2), Shane Cleary, Lee Guinan, Adam Mullins, Ciaran Geoghegan, Liam Doyle, Liam Malynn.

Subs used: Sean Fox, Paddy McHugh, Glenn Carolan
