Jim McHugh Memorial Under 12 Football Final
Caulry 4-16
Garrycastle 3-4
The Under 12 footballers travelled to Garrycastle on Saturday night last to play the host club in the Jim McHugh Memorial Shield Tournament Final. Played under lights our lads were quickly into their stride with an early scoring blitz. However, it was the quality of their play with slick passing movements and running on and off the ball at pace that was a sight to behold as some fantastic scores flowed on from here.  The early pressure on the Garrycastle defence was telling as Alan Malynn slotted a couple of early frees, to be followed by the opening goal by Roan Sweeney with an audious chip over the advancing keeper. Senan Baker quickly got in on the act as he lobbed the overworked keeper. Alan Malynn continued to punish any indiscretions and he finished the evening with a noteworthy perfect ten, from play and frees off left and right feet. Coming to the break Luke Buckley sent a crashing shot through a forest of players to leave Caulry a healthy 3-7 to 1-3 to the good. Garrycastle to their credit never gave up and two goals early on the resumption got them back into contention. However a movement the length of the pitch, ended with a thunderbolt from Senan Baker to the ‘castle net and Caulry were back in control. With man of the match, Roan Sweeney now at midfield showing his undoubted class, dictating play with the lively Olan Healy, Caulry controlled the reminder of the match with some excellent point scoring. This was a very impressive all round team and panel display from all the players which argues well for the future as they finished deserving winners.
Panel : Conor Paul, Shane Lawless, Ruairi Casey, Ciaran Gaynor, James Carey,  Colm Shortall, Luke Buckley (1-1), Olan Healy (0-1), Jamie Conlon, Senan Baker (2-0), Tom Cloonan (0-1), Alan Malynn (0-10), Roan Sweeney (1-3), James Buckley, Oisin Murphy, Adam O Grady, Adam Dunning, Conor McKnight, Sean Murphy, Sean Malone,  Adam Doyle, Conor McKnight, Lee Roy Coughlan, Rory Mullins.
