Division 2 ACFL
Caulry 2-6
Milltownpass 0-10
Our intermediate team got their Division 2 ACFL campaign underway on a blustery Saturday afternoon last when they played host to Milltownpass.
Milltownpass were first to attack with their initial attempt trickling out over the end-line. Our lads struggled up front playing into a very strong breeze. Liam Malynn then opened the scoring tally on the 4th minute with his fine point from play. Another Milltownpass attack failed to pay dividends as Conor McCormack tapped over a free at the other end of the field. A good breakdown from Declan Donohoe in the centre of the field was worked into Colin Murphy who rattled the back of the Milltownpass net on the 10th minute. Milltownpass then got off the mark after taking advantage of a quick line-ball. Our lads became sluggish as Milltownpass drove on with four unanswered points, drawing level on the 23rd minute. Despite some good work from Damien Dolan, our lads struggled to register scores against the strong breeze as a late point for the opposition saw them lead at the break 0-6 to 1-2.
Milltownpass shot out of the tracks in the second half and were unlucky to miss an early goal opportunity. Dolan found Andy O’Sullivan who levelled the match three minutes after the resumption of play. An effort from Sean Fox fell short before Milltownpass edged in front with a point from play. A foul on Alan Daly resulted in a penalty for Caulry, which was neatly converted by McCormack. McCormack then tapped over another free to put three between the sides. However, this lead was short-lived as Milltownpass dug deep for the final quarter of the game. Michael McMahon brought off a good save on the 44th minute before three unanswered Milltownpass points meant it was level-pegging. It looked as though a draw was on the cards as a number of Caulry attempts were deemed wide. However, a late couplet of long-range frees from McCormack saw Caulry escape with the win on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-10.
Team & Scorers: Michael McMahon, Darren Hynds, Eoin Shortall, Dylan Lowry, Eoin Fox, Sean Fox, Damien Dolan, Declan Donohoe, Sean Clinton, Loughlin Casey, Conor McCormack (1-4, 4f), Jack O’Kelly Lynch, Liam Malynn (0-1), Colin Murphy (1-0), Andy O’Sullivan (0-1)

Division 4 ACFL
Caulry 0-9
Milltownpass 1-11
Our Division 4 ACFL side made the journey to Milltownpass on a wet Sunday morning last for their opening game of the campaign.
Both sides were slow to settle with the two goalies dealing well with early threats. Milltownpass then got off the mark on the 8th minute as they converted a free. A superb pass from Neil Clinton found Hugh Allen who put Caulry on the scoreboard. Gary Flanagan then put Caulry in front on the 12th minute with a fine score from play. However, the opposition rattled off four quick scores to take the lead. Paddy Sleator’s shot on goal was well blocked down as Anthony Allen converted a free on the 26th minute. Liam Malynn then took advantage of a rebound ball and tapped it over the bar to leave two between the sides at the interval on the scoreline of 0-6 to 0-4.
Flanagan opened the second half scoring tally as he converted a free early on. Milltownpass responded well as they added 1-2 in quick succession. The teams exchanged two points each with Malynn on target for Caulry. Darren Hynds done well when introduced as points from Peter Smyth and Flanagan left four between the sides. Milltownpass then converted a ‘45’ late in the game to secure their win on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-9.
