Minor League
Caulry 3-9
Coralstown/Kinnegad 3-17
Our minors suffered a defeat to Coralstown/Kinnegad in their latest league fixture on Thursday evening last.
The opposition started well by opening the scoring tally inside the opening 60 seconds. Coralstown/Kinnegad then punched holes into the Caulry defence tagging on an early 1-3 as our lads struggled up front. An attempt from Neil Clinton dropped short in front of the goals which was quickly recovered and sent to the back of the opposition’s net by Liam Doyle. Zach Nolan worked hard in the Caulry defence as a point from Adam Donoghue left three between the sides. Coralstown/Kinnegad kept their lead in touch as they added a point on the quarter hour mark. However, our lads soon drew level after a display of good combined teamwork enabled Rory Mullins to rattle the opposition’s net just before Doyle sent over the equaliser. However, the opposition never looked phased as they outscored our lads 1-4 to 0-1 before the interval to lead by six.
Donoghue raced out of the tracks early in the second half and sent the ball over the bar to draw one back. Coralstown/Kinnegad kicked the next score of the game. James Carey done well when introduced as he registered Caulry’s third goal of the game on the 35th minute. The teams then exchanged points with Paddy McHugh and Colin Murphy on target. James Clavin brought off a good save on the 52nd minute as Jack Sheehan pointed to reduce the deficit. Adam Mullins tried hard as Thomas Dunning and Donoghue raised the white flag for Caulry. However, a late burst for the opposition saw them run out winners on a scoreline of 3-17 to 3-9.
