Caulry GAA PRO Notes 8th June 2014 -

posted 21 Jun 2014, 14:11 by Caulry Admin
Intermediate Championship -
Next Saturday evening Caulry travel to the county grounds of Cusack Park Mullingar for their opening game in this year’s Intermediate Championship at 7.30pm. The opposition will be provided by Mullingar Shamrocks second team who were the Junior championship winners last year. When Caulry met the Shamrocks first squad in Division 1 of this year’s league back in March, we had one point to spare over them. Many of the same players will lock horns on Saturday evening and this is a potential banana skin. However, with the right attitude and performance, our lads should get the campaign off to a winning start. All supporters please get behind our team.

Junior Championship
On this coming Thursday evening, Caulry commence their Junior Championship campaign with an away trip to Killucan for a 7.30pm throw-in. When these sides met in a Division 5 League game a number of weeks back, Caulry had a comprehensive victory and hopes are high that we can come away with championship points in this opener.

Under 14 League
Caulry 2-15
Athlone 6-2
Caulry and Athlone served up a cracking game of football in this Under 14 League fixture on Thursday evening last at the sunny Caulry grounds. With both teams short a number of players, it was the home side who dominated the first half to lead 2-8 to 4-0, with Athone ability to find the net,  keeping them in the contest despite the lack of possession. Territory was more evenly balanced on the resumption, but once again the visitors goal poaching led to a gripping finale when Caulry should have been out of sight. Caulry had excellent performances from all players, but Colin Murphy, Glen Carolan and Dylan Lowry were exceptional. Well done to both teams.
Caulry: James Clavin, Jack Sheehan,  Darren Browne,Luke Hamilton, Zach Nolan, Sean Fox, Dylan Lowry, Colin Murphy (0-4), Neil Clinton (1-2), Shane Cleary (0-1), Glen Carolan, Adam Donoghue (0-2), Liam Doyle (1-3), Daniel Buckley (0-1), Thomas Dunning (0-2), Roan Sweeney, Rory Mullins, Jack Malone.

Under 12 League Fixture
We are at home to Athlone on this Wednesday evening at 7pm in what should be another good contest.

Ladies Under-12
It was with great enthusiasm that our under 12 girls travelled to St. Lomans last Thursday evening to play them in the first round of phase 2 of the league. Following a very close tussle the first half ended with St. Lomans ahead by only 2 scores. The second half was a tougher battle for our hard working Caulry girls and the stronger St. Lomans side were worthy winners. However our Caulry girls never gave up competing and can be very proud of their efforts.
