Caulry GAA PRO Notes Mar 7th

Galvin Cup 
Caulry took on Rosemount in the Galvin Cup hosted by Tang on Saturday last. Conceding some soft goals in the first half Caulry rallied with a number of well taken frees by Peter Smyth (see picture below) to go in at half-time level on a scoreline of 4-1 to 1-10. The second half was a tighter affair with fewer scores on the board but Rosemount came out on top at the end with a two point victory on a scoreline of 4-6 to 1-13.

Minor League
The Minors travelled to Ballinacargy on Sunday last for the second round of the Div 2 League. Short a few regulars they struggled in the opening half and were down by 3-8 to 0-5 points at half-time. A much improved performance in the second half saw them play some good attacking football and they were unlucky to lose out in the end to Ballinacargy by 3 points on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-15.

U/16 Cross-County League 
Well done to the The U/16s who travelled to Navan on Saturday last to take on Meath side Wolfe Tones in the special cross-county u/16 league organised by the Leinster Council and came away with a well earned victory.
 
U/14 League
Following defeat to a much stronger Athlone side in th opening league fixture of the season in Athlone on Monday week last Caulry took on Moate in the second round in the Park on Saturday last with a much improved performance despite losing out on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-5 in favour of Moate.

Leinster Colleges Semi-Final
Commiserations to John Maguire, Jack O'Kelly-Lynch, Jack O'Meara, Eric Fallon, Ryan Browne and Shane Nugent who were involved in the Moate CS squad, that narrowly lost out by 2 points to the highly fancied St Pat's of Navan in the semi-final of the Leinster Colleges A Championship, played in Cusack Park before a good attendance last Saturday afternoon.
