posted 23 Jan 2017, 05:14 by Roisin Allen

The Annual General Meeting of Caulry Ladies was held on last Friday night in Mount Temple Community Hall.  Chairperson Mary Martin welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending.  She stated that it had been a busy, long, but very successful season for all our girls.

Mary praised the efforts of the youngest members of the club who took part in various blitzes during the year.  She congratulated the very young U-12 panel on their enthusiasm for the game and reaching the County semi-final in their division.  Commenting on the U-14 panel she congratulated them on stepping up to the challenge of moving into a higher division and winning the Division 2 League, Mary commiserated with the girls on the outcome of their county final replay but commended them on their fantastic team spirit, commitment and work ethic that got them through very long season; some of the U-14 panel competed in both U-16 and minor competitions, earning themselves county medals.

Offering her congratulations to the U-16 team on winning their County Final she said these girls worked tirelessly throughout the year and deserved to win.  Mary then mentioned that this was Caulry’s first year to field a minor team, as we were down numbers, girls from the U-16 and U-14 panels were brought in.  She congratulated the girls on their dedication and hard work, and on 13th November this panel of girls took home the title and deservedly so.

Mary took the opportunity to thank all our coaches, mentors and helpers for giving their time and experience voluntarily.  She expressed huge gratitude to all the parents and guardians for their support during the year.  She thanked everyone that helped out in our successful 2 day bag packing fundraiser; sponsors Richie & Amy Maloney for generously treating the U-16 team to a meal after their county final win; Jimmy Dungan (Jimmy’s Superstore) and Martin Hogan (AES) for the sponsorship of training tops for the U-16/Minor panel; Louise Dollard for sponsoring U-14 league winner medals; lotto syndicate members who contribute weekly to the Westmeath County Lotto; Michelle Baker for organising and ordering Caulry Ladies gear; Mount Temple and Baylin National Schools for promoting and encouraging girls to play Gaelic football;  County Board delegates who attend the monthly county board meetings and lastly thanks to Caulry GAA for their massive support in 2016 and for the sporting opportunities they are providing for all the girls of Baylin and Mount Temple.
