Caulry Ladies Notes

posted 8 Sep 2015, 08:33 by Roisin Allen

Caulry held their end of season u10's blitz on Tuesday 8th September.  Sincere thanks to parents for encouraging their little girls to come training and bringing them to blitzes.  See you all in 2016.

The girls played their semi final on Thursday last v Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's in Streamstown.  They did a marvellous job and did us proud but unfortunately were beaten by a stronger team.  The girls had a great season and should be very proud of themselves.  Thanks to all the parents for their commitment in bringing the girls to training and matches. It's the end of the road for 2015 but looking forward to seeing you all back in 2016 for a new season of even better football.

County Final Caulry 4-16 v Loughanvalley 8-7

Our girls travelled to Killucan on Sunday morning for their county final, nervous, anxious, excited and that was just the parents!  They knew that this was the game that had to be played with 100% commitment and they most certainly did that.  Showing off the skills they have practised and honed all year, they gave that game everything they got.  In the first 10 minutes Loughnavalley scored 2-1, our girls settled into the game and came back fighting, by the end of the first half we were winning by a point.

Not resting on our laurels we scored 6 points and a goal in the second half, it was a very tight game, with Loughnavalley scoring 3 goals and a point. It was a tied game and exhilarating to watch, the spectators on both sides shouting encouragement to their teams.  With a minute to go Loughnavalley scored a goal and our girls did all they could to even the score but it wasn't to be.  Our girls can be very proud of their performance and as anyone that was there will tell you, the best team did not win. The trainers and mentors are full of praise for this brilliant team of girls and hope this experience will make them even hungrier to win next year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents for their support all season and for all the supporters who travel to their games.

Also sincere thanks to their sponsor Ray McSharry, McSharry's Pharmacy for sponsoring their meal after the game.
