1974 Junior B Champioship Final

Caulry On Top

Caulry 2-2
Rosemount 1-2

Caulry became the 1974 winenrs of the Junior "B" Football Championship by virtue of their 2-2 to 1-2 win over Rosemount in the decider played at Hogan Park, Moate on Sunday week last. This was a close hard fought game with both sides showing great determination. A very strong cross wind made scoring almost impossible and this more than anything else accounted for the very low score. Caulry won the toss and played with whatever wind advantage there was. They dictated play for most of the first half and were unlucky not to be more in front at half time, with Jim Boland in the Rosemount goal making a great save from a penalty shot taken by B. Costello. With the advantage of the wind in the second half, the loosers pressed very hard, keeping the ball almost continually in the Caulry goal area for the third quarter of the game. However, they made little impact on the scoreboard and Caulry finished deserving winners. For the winners Jack Allen, Tom Flanagan, tom Seery, Tom Curly and Brenda Costello were best. H. Selvin and P. King impressed for the loosers.

Scores for Caulry: B Costello (1-1), T Curley (1-0) and P Maylnn (0-1)
Scores for Rosemount: P. Boland (1-0) J.J. Carberry and K. Higgins (0-1) each.

Caulry: M. Hickey, T. Flanagan, J. Allen, P. Allen, P. Rigney, T. Seery, S. Donoghue, T. Curley, R. Hickey, T. Rigney.
