2001 Junior Final Player Profiles

James Casey (27) (Captain)
After taking a break last year, James has been having a great year as captain, and has put in some inspirational displays in the full back line. Has won honours at Under 14, Under 16 and Minor level. Was a member of the last Caulry team that won the Junior Championship in 1990.










Noel Murray (19)
A great shot stopper, Noel has come on leaps and bounds this year under the guidance on John Madden. Was captain of the victorious Minor team that won the A Championship in 1999. Has also won honours at Under 16, and Minor level.

Frank Colclough (29)
An extremely tough defender, Frank is new in the club this year, and hails from Dixboro, Killkenny. Honours include, Minor, Under 21, Junior, Intermediate and Senior level. Has also represented Killkenny at Senior level.

Jody Maylnn (31)
After suffering a serious arm injury during the year, Jody has made a dramatic recovery, and is beginning to get back to his best. Has won honours at Under 14, Under 16 and Minor level. Was also a member of the last Caulry team that won the Junior Championship in 1990.

Anthony Malone (25)
Extremely hard working and dedicated footballer, Anthony has been a member with the Caulry first team for the past 8 years.  Has won honours at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 level, and will be trying to follow in his fathers footsteps to win an adult championship title with Caulry.

David Hatton (31)
Experienced campaigner, who has been having a great year in the center-half back position. A strong leader, David is noted for his steely defending and quality long balls into the forward line. Has won honours at Under 14, Under 16 and Minor, and also represented Westmeath at underage and Senior level. David was also a member of the last Caulry team that won the Junior Championship in 1990.

Brian Mullarney (17)
First year on the first team, Brian has made the corner back position his own. A tight defender, with a never say die approach. Was captain of last years Under 16 team which won the A Championship, and was on last years County under 16 team, and has also won honours at Under 14, and Minor level.

Gary Flanagan (19)
Another man with plenty of intercounty experience. Was a member of last years County Minor team which won the Leinster title, and was also a member of this years under 21 team. Very powerful midfielder, who is well able to kick points as well. With Caulry, has won Under 16 and has 3 Minor Championship winners medals.

Enda Murphy (31)
Hails from Wexford, but has been part of the Caulry setup for 6 years. Extremely knowledgeable footballer, Enda provides the perfect partnership with Gary at midfield. Honours won include Minor and Junior A with Bunclody. Also played Minor County with Wexford.

Eddie Egan (18)
Still a Minor, Eddie has been having a great year on the Caulry first team. Suffered a shoulder injury in the semi-final, so is unlikely to be available for the final. Has won honours at Under 14, Under 16 and Minor level.

Leo Fallon (20)
Very talented free taker, who is comfortable with both feet. Has won honours at Under 16, Minor, and has represented Westmeath at underage level.

Ciaran Cunningham (28)
As a 17 year old, lined out at right-half forward in the Junior final in 1990. Skillful and speedy, Ciaran is a great play maker, and is also known for his goal poaching ability. Honours won include, Under 14, Under 16 and Minor, and also has represented Westmeath at underage level.

Alan Carroll (19)
Our own Joe Brolly, Alan has made the number 13 slot his own. Takes the free's on the right hand side. Alan has scored 9-22 from this years championship alone, a fine tally considering he missed 6 weeks with a hamstring injury. Has won honours at Under 16 and Minor level.

Anslem Fitzgerald (23)
Even at the tender age of 23, Anslem has been a regular on the Caulry first team since 1995. Captained the Junior B side to the County Final
this year, is noted for his high scoring. Has plenty of experience at club, county and colleges level. Honours won include, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Minor, and has represented Westmeath at underage level.

Ross Allen (19)
The ex Athlone Town player has definitely brought some of his soccer skills to the forward line. Deadly forward, with intercounty experience at underage level, scored a brilliant goal in the semi-final. Has won honours at Under 16 and Minor level.

Mark Rigney (20)
A Westmeath Minor in 1997, Mark is a very skillful and intelligent footballer, and also a renowned soccer player. Missed the semi-final, but will play a big part in the final on Sunday. Honours won include Under 14, Under 16 and Minor.

Damien Dowd (26)
Another man with plenty of Championship experience. Extremely tough marking half-back, who is also comfortable attacking forward. Has won honours at Under 14, Under 16 and Minor level.

Aidan Dunning (33)
Brother of TJ, Aidan suffered a serious injury at the start of the year. But has made his way back onto the team, and with a deadly left foot and
great vision, he is a key asset to the forward line. Won the Intermediate Championship with Caulry in 1985, and was a member of the Junior team in 1990 which won the Championship. Also, has played Senior football for Westmeath.

Jimmy Hatton (28)
Very dedicated player, Jimmy had a great year on the Junior B team, lining out at midfield. Natural position is in defence, Jimmy was also a member of the Caulry team which won the Junior Championship in 1990. Has also won honours at Under 14 and Under 16 level.

Derek Bowen (25)
Versatile player who is at home in either the forwards or defence. Has won honours at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 level. 

Padraig Killane (28)
Another tough half-back, Padraig had a great year with the Junior B team, and was captain of the Junior B team last year. Honours include, Under 14 and Under 16 level. Was a member of the last Caulry team that won the Junior Championship in 1990, and has also represented Westmeath at underage level.

Mark Malone (20)
Brother of Anthony, was having a great year on Junior B and Junior team, until he suffered a fractured arm in August. Has winners medals at Under 16, and 2 at Minor level.

Benny Noone (25)
Gifted forward, was a key member of the Junior B side which got to the County final. Noted for his ability to knock off crucial points in the dying minutes of games. Benny has also won honours at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 level. Currently on the injured list.

Alan Rigney (18)
Brother of Mark, and a very similar type of footballer. The fourth and final player to experience adult football for the first time this year. Alan has winners medals at, Under 16 and Minor level.

Willie Buckley (19)
Another man on the  injury list. Willie was in flying form until he suffered a nasty knee injury in a league game last July. Has won honours at and Under 16, and Minor level.

John Dolan (19).
Speedy half forward or half back, John is another man who won two Minor titles for Caulry in 1999 and 2000. Member of Junior B team which got to county final.

Damien Killane (24)
Padraigs brother, and is a very tight marking corner back. Excelled during the Junior B Championship with his gritty displays. Damien has winners medals at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 level.

TJ Dunning (38)
The father of the team, TJ has had a wonderful year in goals for the Junior B team. As well as been a member of the Junior side in 1990, TJ was also Full Back on the Caulry side which won the Intermediate Championship in 1985.
