2012 Intermediate Final Player Profiles

Alan Rigney (29) (Captain)
Made a return to the Caulry colours this year after two years in Dublin. A natural leader Alan's ability to read breaks and set up attacks has proved vital this year. Honours include Junior Championship (2002 and 2009), Junior B (2003), U21 (2002), Minor (1998 and 1999), U16 (1999), and U14 (1997).

Joe McMahon (22)
Joe is a very reliable keeper and excellent shot stopper. Honours include Leinster championship with Athlone CC (2008) Junior Championship (2009) 

Ben Moran (21)
A very tight marker, Ben is currently on the Westmeath senior squad. Has represented Westmeath at all levels. Honours include various underage titles, Leinster championship with Athlone CC 
 
Kevin Maguire (21)
Cornerback on this years Westmeath team he has also represented Westmeath at all underage levels. Won various underage titles and a Junior Championship in 2009

Brian Mullarney (28)
Very sticky and experienced defender, Brian is a home in either line of defence. Honours include championships at Junior (2003, 2006, and 2009),  Junior B (2003). U21 (2002), Minor (1998 and 1999), U16 (1999 and 2000), and U14 (1997). Has represented Westmeath at all underage levels; U14 to U21.

Keith McMenamin (23) 
Keith has played at wing back this year and his pace and skill mean he is a handful for any marker. Member of the Junior Championship winning teams in 2006 and 2009, and he has also represented Westmeath at Underage level.

Damien Dolan (26)
One of Caulry’s most consistent performers this year. Damien is a cunning and intelligent defender, and a fantastic reader of a game who loves to get forward. Honors include Junior Championships in 2006 and 2009.

Jack O'Kelly-Lynch (19)
A speedy and skillfull half-back and a solid  man-marker. Won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011 and has represented Westmeath at underage in both Football and Hurling.

Alan Fitzpatrick (21)
Alan is a tremendous fielder and free-taker  with great skill and vision. Has represented Westmeath at all levels. Honours include various underage titles, Leinster championship with Athlone CC and Junior Championship in 2009

John Magiure (20)
The younger of the Maguire brothers,  John is a strongly built mid-field player who excels in the breaking ball & close encounters. Represented Westmeath at Minor level in 2010.

Eoghan Grennan (21)
With Gazelle-like speed, Eoghan is an all-out attacking half-forward who is equally at home as an attacking half-back, and has the ability to pick off long range points whilst on the run.

Johnny Dolan (25)
The "Gouch Cooper" of the team, Johnny has been having a cracking year at wing forward. As fast as a bullet, Johnny loves to roam around and intertwine with his fellow forwards. Has a deadly talent of  slipping his marker and finding the back of the net, and is always good for a few points in every game. He has represented Westmeath at Underage level and U21. Member of the Junior Championship winning teams of 2006 and 2009.

Peter Smith (28)
Captain of the Caulry team which won the 2006 Junior Championship.An excellent free-taker, Peter generally plays in the forward line, but because of his high skill level, can easily fit into any line on the field if needs be. Honours include Championships at  Junior  (2002, 2006 and 2009), Junior B (2003), U16 (1999 and 2000) and U14 (1997).

Gary Flanagan (30)
Former captain of the Westmeath Under 21 team, and a member of the Leinster winning Westmeath Minor team in 1999. Scored the famous winning goal in the 2006 Junior Final. Honours include championships at Junior (2002, 2006 and 2009). U21 (2002), Minor (1998 and 1999),  and U16 (1996).

David Brookes (18)
Superb corner-forward, fast and tenacious  with  a great goal-scoring record. A member of the Westmeath Minor squad in 2012. He has also won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011.

Philip Dully (24)
Philip is a very versatile player who plays at mid-field or in the forward line. He is also a very prolific goalkeeper who ca bring off some excellent saves. Philip was captain of this year’s Junior Team.

Declan Donahue (22)
Midfield on the 2009 Junior team, injury has hampered Declan this year but if called upon he’s sure to give his all. Has represented Westmeath at all underage levels. Honours include various underage titles, a Leinster title with Athlone CC and Junior Championship in 2009.
 
Andy O'Sullivan (18)
Strong and direct player who likes to take on defences at speed and has an eye for goal. Was on the Westmeath Minor squad in 2012 and won a Minor Premier medal in 2011 with St Ciarans.

Alan Carroll (30)
Captained the Caulry/Castledaly combination which annexed the Under 21 Premier Championship in 2003. Noted for his high scoring displays, Alan was a key part of the Junior Championship winning teams of 2002, 2006 and 2009. Has also won Championships U21 (2002) Minor (1998 and 1999) and  U16 (1996).
 
Robert Kenny (22)
At home either at Full forward or midfield Robbie’s high fielding and point taking are invaluable to the team. Has represented Westmeath at all levels including Minor.  Honors include various underage titles, Leinster title with Athlone CC and Junior Championship in 2009
 
Ernie Buckley (28)
Ernie is a committed and lively footballer. Is at home in either the half-back or half-forward lines. Honours include, Junior Championship (2002, 2006 and 2009), Junior B (2003), U16 (2000 and 2001), and U14 (1999); won an All-Ireland schools title with Mountbellew.
 
Nicky Killane (28)
Nicky is generally used in the midfield area, where he can use his strength and high fielding skills to full effect. Was a member of the Caulry Junior team which won the 2006 and 2009 Championships, Junior B (2003), U16 (1999 and 2000) and U14 (1997 and 1999). 
 
Mark Malone (31)
"Molly" is at home in either the half-back, or half-forward line. Possesses a huge never say die attitude, and an engine like a Ferrari. Honours include Championships at Junior (2002, 2006 and 2009), Junior B (2003), Under 21 (2002), Minor (1998 and 1999), and Under 16 (1996).
 
Cairan Allen (22)
Otherwise known as ‘Bucka’, he is a tenacious and close-marking corner-back who gives his all in games. Was a key member of this year’s Junior team.
 
Michael Donahoe (22)
Can play as either a full or half back and has excellent  speed over short distances. Honours include a Junior Championship in 2009.
 
Pat Buckley (34)
Pat is also an accomplished full or half-back. Very strong on the ball, and a great long-range passer. Honours include various under age titles and Junior championships 2006 and 2009.

Johnny Buckley (23)
Johnny is a tough defender and feels at home in defence. Honour’s include Junior (2006 & 2009) Junior B (2003) and has also represented Westmeath at Underage level.
 
Jack O'Meara (19)
A speedy half-back with a great engine who never tires. Has won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011 and has represented Westmeath at underage
 
Michael Mc Mahon (18)
Strong and steady player as a full or corner-back who has also played in goal for Westmeath at underage. Was on the Westmeath Minor squad in 2012. 

James Daly (21)
James missed most of this years campaign through travel commitments but if called upon is sure to give his all. Won various underage titles and a Junior Championship in 2009 
 
Shane Nugent (19)
Versatile and speedy player who can play both as a forward or in the back line. Won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011.
 
Ryan Browne (19)
A tough & tenacious defender who likes the one-on-one battles. Has also has played as a full-forward. Won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011
 
Eric Fallon (19)
A fast and skillfull half or corner-forward who is also a successful free-taker. Has won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011.
 
Robbie Hickey (17)
A very promising mid-field or half-forward player with great future potential. Can also convert frees and 45's. Has represented Westmeath at underage and won a Minor Premier medal with St Ciarans in 2011.

Aidan Murphy (21)
The Joker and Comedian of the Squad, Aidan is an excellent Goalkeeper and was between the posts for  the club’s Junior campaign this year. 

Sean Doyle (17)
Also an excellent under-age Rugby Player, Sean is at home on any team playing mid-field or half-forward. He is a member of this year’s Minor Team.

Liam Muldoon (20)
A very fast & fit forward or half-back who played on this year’s Junior Team and is the main challenger to Damien Dolan’s reputation as being the fastest man on the Caulry squad.

Evan Roarke (18)
A strong player who is equally at home playing in the half-back line or at half-forward. Has represented Westmeath at under-age level and is a key member of this year’s Minor Team.

Thomas Ledwith

Steven Woods (18)
A lethal left-footer who knows where the goal-posts are and plys his trade usually at corner or half-forward. He is a key member of this year’s Minor Team.

James Pettit (18)
A strong and tenacious corner or half-back who never gives up till the final whistle. James is also a vital member of this year’s Minor Team.
